My Poet, Dark and Slender (2016)
Adapted from Pádraic Ó Conaire’s short story M’Fhile Caol Dubh, this piece tells the tale of a woman’s anguished love affair with a nationalist poet in Dublin, 1915.
Taking inspiration from found texts, this work was devised by the ensemble of Mmm Theatre, culminating in an experimental narrative exploring the fragmented nature of memory and passion.
The undulating and clawing choreography presents the intoxicating agony of a volatile romance set against the murky yet crackling backdrop of an Irish city on the verge of revolution.
